At The Salty Moon, we are obviously very connected to the moon energy. We will be having New Moon Manifestation Classes using sound bowls, as well as Full Moon Release ceremonies using both sound and on occasion, cacao. We will also be hosting a multitude of other classes and workshops in addition to these! Some of these include mandala drawing classes, individual yoga classes, Palo Santo meditations and education, sound bowl meditations, guided meditations, mindfulness classes, grief counselling, children's self-esteem workshops, among many others to be announced!
In terms of sound baths, researchers have found that sound waves affect the human nervous system and decrease blood pressure more than traditional meditation. There is also new research on the benefits of binaural beats, which is when two tones at slightly different frequencies are played in unison.
It is normal for almost everyone to feel stress and anxiety during their day. Most people do not have the time, or patience, to meditate on their own. Just like most people join the gym to initiate the desire to get fit, joining a sound bath is a great way to encourage the amazing benefits of meditation. The benefits of meditation are already widely known, but it is not being discovered that sound baths and sound therapy are much more productive on the body than meditation alone.
The noise from our everyday live can be overwhelming. It can feel challenging at times to simply relax. We may yearn for a space to let go, to feel deeply calm, and to reconnect to our self. But we may not be sure how to do this or how to even begin. For some, traditional meditation may be the answer, but for others there may be another (or additional) way to help find stillness, relax the nervous system, and soothe the soul. We all come from a place of love and can return and realign to calmness, presence, and a feeling of well-being from within. Experience a sense of peace, heart expansion, and a refreshing reset through sound healing.
It does not matter if you have had any type of sound bath meditation before. The sound bath experience will guide you into a meditative acoustic sound "concert" that encourages feelings of peace, serenity, and an overall sense of joy. By the end of the sound healing session, you should have relaxed your nervous system, and feel centered, refreshed, and recharged.
Also used are crystal pyramids of different sizes, a crystal harp, and crystal Merkabahs for additional sound healing experiences and manifesting ceremonies.
Usui Reiki All Levels Trainings
See Flyer For Current Level Description.
Total well-being requires a willingness to take an active role in the creation of your own health. Connection to mind, body and soul are essential to live a full and meaningful life. Reiki is an ancient healing art; a simple healing system of amazing ease and power. The Japanese work Reiki ( pronounced “Ray-key”) means “Universal Light”. It is the universal consciousness or knowledge called “Rei” that guides the fundamental Life Force energy called “Ki”.
Reiki is a technique for transmitting this energy to improve health and the quality of life for all living beings. The best part is that everyone has the ability to easily learn how to use Reiki!
Our Reiki I class will teach you the first level of Usui Reiki and how to use the healing energy to help yourself and others ( even your pets and plants!) In this class, you will learn to give effective Reiki treatments to yourself and others following standards of the International Center for Reiki Training.
Topics include the history of Reiki, what it is and how it heals, how to use it, the complete protocol of hand positions and the human energy system.
You will receive a Level I handbook, and at the end of the class you will have a certificate of completion which allows you to practice Reiki at the beginner level. (You are able to charge for your services at this level).
Teaching is done through interactive lecture & discussion, hands on practice giving Reiki to yourself and others and a simple, but powerful, process called an attunement which connects the student to the source of Reiki energy.
Reiki treats the whole person, mind, body and spirit. It can produce many beneficial effects including relaxation, stress reduction, release of unconscious blocks, peacefulness and well-being. Reiki is especially helpful for those with chronic illness and/or pain. It can do no harm. It compliments and does not interfere with any traditional medical treatments.
There are three levels to Reiki mastery and Reiki can only be taught by a Reiki Master/Teacher. Reiki levels II and III will be explained to you in class but are by no means required. We believe everyone should learn and benefit from Reiki. We also believe that learning Reiki is a sacred act and should not be taken lightly.
The Reiki Level I class will be co-taught by Christina Turner Ward and Alaina Molesko, both Usui Reiki Master Teachers . Wear comfortable clothes and bring an open mind and heart and something to write with( pen or pencil). We will provide all materials.
The class number is limited so be sure to sign up early and create the space for your attendance. Please note: Certificates will be given only to students who are present for the entire class.
Cacao Ceremonies
We will be hosting a meditation/ritual on every full moon and new moon. With that, we will occasionally incorporate a cacao ceremony in an intimate group setting, taking place in our very own salt cave.
What is a cacao ceremony?
For thousands of years, ancient tribes have considered cacao as a sacred plant with healing properties. Not only was cacao used in ceremonial settings, but it was also renowned as a medicinal plant that aids in the healing of and opening up of the heart's circulation. Because of it's heart opening, qualities cacao is a perfect pairing with meditation, yoga, sound bowls and therapeutic work such as reiki. It facilitates greater connection to other people and to yourself. It's sure to add a certain sacredness to your personal practice and a buzz to your social gatherings.
Ceremonial cacao is not the same as regular chocolate. Chocolate is usually overloaded with extra ingredients such as sugar, milk and preservatives and people often see it as either a guilty pleasure or junk food. Chocolate still gives us that feel good effect but the medicinal properties are close to none because so much of the good stuff (aka the cacao fat aka butter) is stripped away.
Cacao, which is very thick and somewhat bitter, is pure, with no additives so it's tastiest when mixed with maple syrup or honey. Depending on the ceremony, we will sometimes add heart-opening rose powder to enhance the experience.
There are a few cacao brands out there - we use Ora, however we may also use Firefly Chocolate.
The important stuff:
Cacao can be very stimulating, so keep that in mind. Cacao has a natural does of caffeine, and sacred ceremonial cacao is prepared in such a way that properties of it alone increases blood flow to the brain by 30 to 40%, and the actual oxygen in the blood is also increased by about 20%. Along with this and the meditations and healing offered in the ceremony, you can greatly expand the energy of the heart center for deeper awareness, healing, joy and creativity. We ask that if you have high blood pressure, heart issues, sensitivity to caffeine, an allergy to chocolate, are pregnant, prone to severe anxiety, or are on anti-depressants or any other medication, that you do not consume the full amount of cacao served in the ceremonies without permission from your doctor or physician. We require you to let us know in advance of a ceremony if any of the above apply to you.
What to expect
Attending a cacao ceremony will cultivate a deeper connection within yourself and your community.
Remember, Full Moon is about release- releasing what no longer serves us, clearing space for what will and what does. New Moon is about manifesting what we want into our lives, to attract and bring towards us what we desire.
The positive energy of the moon is something to be felt. It is more than just the light of the moon. The moon’s energy creates the perfect setting for meditating. You don’t even need to be able to see the light of the moon, the energy penetrates clouds, fog, and even walls.
In fact, a lunar eclipse - when the rays of moonlight are blocked for a brief period of time - is the most powerful time for meditation. One meditation session during a lunar eclipse is known to be multiplied by a hundred times. Imagine that, one meditation during an eclipse is equal to 100 meditations!
Since the beginning of time, humanity has been celebrating the spiritual energy of the moon. Native Americans are known to celebrate with a moon dance. Ramadan starts with a crescent moon. Guru Puenim and Buddha Purnima coincide with specific full moons. Holi, a popular Hindu festival in the spring, also occurs on the full moon. In the Jewish Tradition, the new moon marks a new month. Hebrew Rosh Hodesh is a minor festival where fasting and mourning are not allowed. And farmers worldwide celebrate the harvest moon at the end of the growing season.
Benefiting from the spiritual energy of a full moon is easy with us by use of sound, and a guided meditation led by one of our talented and certified meditation practitioners.
The new Moon is a moment to ask yourself important questions or sketch out big dreams, which you’ll pursue during the upcoming lunar cycle and beyond. The new Moon is when you set intentions, reflect on your goals, and figure out where you want to be, and where you want to go. The themes of the new Moon are ones of invitation and attraction: “What do I want to attract more of in my life?" That’s the big question on the new Moon.
The new Moon rituals are centered on planting seeds for the future—which makes sense, when you think about what’s happening celestially. During this three-day lunar phase, the Moon appears to disappear from the night sky. “It’s the dark time. It’s when you put the seed in, and you leave it and let it germinate. Eventually, it’ll come up,” Yasmin Boland, author of Moonology and creator of Moonology Manifestation Oracle, says.
You will learn about different ways and techniques to help you manifest what you want and howuse the new moon energy in your life.

Somatic breathwork is a therapeutic modality dedicated to illuminating the profound influence of our breath on our emotions and our emotions on our breath. It's a mind-body practice (grounded in non-Western traditions), emphasizing the connection between our physical sensations and emotional and mental states.
After, you may feel calm, clear, creative, inspired, grounded, more connected to yourself and/ or others, forgiveness, a combination or something else entirely.
The techniques of somatic Breath are very safe if practiced properly and learned from a trained instructor. The breath retention techniques should be done with caution for people who have severe hypertension or heart disease, or for those who are pregnant.
Mimi from Maison Palo Santo joins us at The Salty Moon 4 times a year for a sacred experience.
